Prof. MarkAnthony Nze is an international scholar, investigative journalist and publisher. His work centers on African governance, public accountability and diaspora affairs, and he carries it out across New York, London, Owerri and Abuja. He founded the New York Center for Advanced Research in New York City, where he serves as Academic Director and Chair of the Academic Board. He is also Editor-in-Chief of People & Polity Inc., the publisher of Africa Today News, New York; Africa Digital News, New York; and The Eastern Updates.
As creator of the NZE Forensic Serial Journalism Methodâ„¢, he built a documentary standard for investigative reporting. Under it, every consequential claim carries a stated evidence position, and each installment publishes its docket of sources. Records sought and not obtained are listed by repository and date, and every named party holds a standing right of reply. Under the method he has published more than 100 multipart series and well over 1,000 series articles. Each series is built as a public case file that institutions can answer and readers can check. The series range across law, politics, public affairs, health systems, management and institutional accountability.
His training began in mass communication, and he studied copyediting at New York University's School of Professional Studies. He holds a British professional doctorate in Strategic Management and Leadership from the London College of Professional Studies. It is an Ofqual-regulated qualification at RQF Level 8, the level at which UK doctorates sit. He earned his PhD at Apsley Business School, London, with doctoral work in economics and management. He also holds an Ofqual-regulated master's qualification in Health and Social Care Management from the London College of Professional Studies, and a master's qualification in International Business Law from the London Institute of Business and Technology.
That PhD led to his appointment as senior lecturer in the College of Management Science at Apsley Business School, and later to his promotion to associate professor. Apsley also engaged him as its media consultant, and he ran the school's new media and strategic publishing. In that post his training in mass communication and his management scholarship came together in one brief. He now holds the rank of Professor of Strategic Management and Leadership. At NYCAR he directs the academic programs in strategic management, health and social care management, and applied research.
His most consequential result to date came through his own method. After years of U.S. visa refusals to scholars admitted to NYCAR, he put the record before the public in The NYCAR U.S. Visa File. It is a 45-part forensic series on Africa Digital News, New York, first published as Vetted and Refused and now in its third volume. The series documents the refusals, the law that governs them, and NYCAR's engagement with consular, congressional and federal offices. He led NYCAR's H-3 trainee petition for 25 Nigerian scholars from filing on June 26, 2025, through a request for evidence, to approval by United States Citizenship and Immigration Services on October 9, 2026, after 470 days of review. The approval, valid to February 20, 2028, is the institutional result of the case he built in that record.
Author of more than 30 books, he has written the novels Beyond Chains, Gang of Looters, The Street Hustler, The Street Boss and The Political Boss, which are held in the library collections of Brown University and Princeton University. His professional titles include Principles and Practice of Health and Social Care Management for PGD Learners, Strategic Management and Leadership for PGD Students and The Complete Guide to Writing and Publishing a Book.
